James Moore Sr.
James A. Moore, Sr., age 90, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, November 11, 2017. Born in Cincinnati, OH on October 16, 1927, he was the son of the late Robert E. and Cecelia F. Baur Moore.
Jim retired from Letterkenny Army Depot in 1989 after 32 years of government service as a photographer. He started his career as a photographer for the Toledo Blade during World War II. He later was drafted and served in the Signal Corps. He was stationed in the Philippines as an Army photographer taking pictures of war destruction. He was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church. He enjoyed reading, watching sports, and being the photographer for the family.
Surviving is his wife, Patricia I. Baughman Moore, whom he married on May 26, 1973, two children, Kieran E. Moore (partner Christi Baker) of Marysville , PA and James A. Moore, Jr. (wife Jodie) of Mt. Holly Springs, PA, two grandchildren, Jack and Joshua Moore, and a brother, David G. Moore of Walbridge, OH. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Patricia and six brothers, Robert, Edward, Louis, Dale, Jack Moore and Kenneth Van Hertsenberg.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Friday, November 17, 2017, at 11 AM at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 320 Philadelphia Ave., Chambersburg, PA, where the Very Rev. Fr. Luis R. Rodriguez will celebrate. The family will receive friends on Thursday, November 16, 2017 from 6-8 PM in the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg, PA. Interment will follow the Mass in Lincoln Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8517.
