Obituary for Virginia Ann Miller (Blackburn)

Print
Virginia Ann Miller, 70, of Chambersburg, passed away on Thursday evening, September 20, 2018, at her home with her family by her side. Born March 26, 1948, in Cumberland, MD and raised in Little Orleans, MD, she was the daughter of the late Bruce A. Blackburn and Virginia May Sullivan Blackburn.

Ann was a 1966 graduate of Flintstone High School in Flintstone, Maryland. She was employed as a Corrections Officer with the State of Maryland Department of Corrections until her retirement. She was a member of Cornerstone Church of Christ in Chambersburg and the Moose International. Ann was an adventurous person. She and her husband, David M. Miller, shared a passion for travel. They visited most of the USA and too many foreign countries to even count. Favorite trips included China and the Holy Land, where she rode a camel and saw the Wailing Wall. She also went tandem parachuting and jet boating in New Zealand as well as took European trips with her grandkids. An avid bicyclist, she was never far from a rail/trail. Ann also enjoyed winters in Florida, gardening and sewing.

Ann’s main love was her daughters and grandchildren. She enjoyed countless wonderful times with them and the many ball games she attended. She is survived by her husband of 28 years, David M. Miller, whom she married on October 28, 1989; two daughters, Lisa L. Spencer (Scott) of Stephens City, VA and Stacy A. Beeler (Shane) of Greencastle, PA; four grandchildren, Grace and Sarah Spencer and Jesse and Hannah Beeler; numerous cousins and many longtime girlfriends. She also leaves behind her faithful dog, Sammy. In addition to her parents, Ann was preceded in death by her brother, David Blackburn. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Larry E. Smith, father of Lisa and Stacy and grandfather of the grandchildren that they shared.

A memorial service will be held to honor Ann’s life at 2:00 PM on Thursday, September 27, 2018, at Cornerstone Church of Christ, 1350 Tallow Hill Rd., Chambersburg, PA 17202. Pastor Jerry Timbrook and Pastor Johnny Herbst will officiate. Private interment will be held at Fairview Cemetery, Artemas, PA. Memorial contributions may be given to Cornerstone Church of Christ.
