May was an avid bridge player, and enjoyed painting. She was also a hospital volunteer for over 25 years.

May is survived by her husband of 70 years, Richard Barth, whom she married on June 19, 1948; her children, Peter Barth (wife Janet), and Marilyn Cutright (husband David); as well as five grandchildren.
