Obituary for Ralph E. Stouffer

Ralph E. Stouffer, 90, a guest at Homewood in Martinsburg, PA and formerly of Chambersburg, passed away Monday evening, January 28, 2019 at Homewood. Born March 29, 1928 in Chambersburg, he was a son of the late Rev. Daniel and Susan Lesher Stouffer. Mr. Stouffer served honorably with the US Army during the Korean War. He was employed at United Telephone Company for thirty-five years prior to his retirement. After retirement, he worked at NTE Long Distance and his favorite job, at Bingham’s Orchards. He was a member of the Martinsburg Lions Club, the Telephone Pioneers Club, the Ruritan Club of St. Thomas, and the Masonic Lodge of McConnellsburg. He was a member and former President of the Great Cove Golf Club. His hobbies included golfing and woodworking. His first wife, Joyce Fleck Stouffer preceded him in death on July 11, 1990 and his second wife, Beda Shatzer Stouffer preceded him in death on April 15, 2015.

He is survived by four children, Connie Lamborn and husband Mike of Martinsburg, PA, Reed Stouffer and wife Jodi of Bellefonte, PA, Andra Stouffer of Martinsburg, PA, and Barry Stouffer of Duluth, GA; a step-son, Brent Cosey, and wife Trish of Marion, PA, and step-daughter Lisa Bontrager and husband Rick of Greencastle, PA; five grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Paul, of Tennessee; and one sister, Faye Heckman of Chambersburg. In addition to his parents and spouses, he was preceded in death by six brothers, Arthur, Carl, Charles, John, Luther, and Glenn; and three sisters, Mary Knepper, Doris Witter, and Ruth Meyers Hawbaker, a step-son, Ben Cosey, and a step-grandson, Brian Cosey.

Funeral services will be held at 10 AM on Friday, February 1, 2019, in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA, where the Revs. Clarence and Darlene Stouffer will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Friday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Greater Pennsylvania Chapter, 2595 Interstate Drive, Suite 100, Harrisburg, PA 17110 or Homewood Auxiliary, 437 Givler Dr., Martinsburg, PA 16662.
