Ada Fox

Ada E. Fox, 87, of Chambersburg, passed away on Thursday, Spetember 1, 2011 at Chambersburg Hospital. Born August 27, 1924 in Chambersburg, she was a daughter of the late LeRoy and Ruth Hockensmith Myers. Ada was the widow of Lester H. Fox, who preceded her in death on April 2, 1985. She worked and retired from the former Stanley Company after 40 years of service. Ada volunteered as a den mother for Cub Scout Pack #124, enjoyed crocheting, and took great pleasure in preparing holiday meals for her family. In their earlier years Ada and her husband Lester enjoyed square dancing and were members of the Whirley Birds in Chambersburg and the Gadabouts in Hagerstown, MD. A member of King Street United Brethren Church, Ada was also a member of the Buds of Promise Sunday School Class.

Surviving are three children, Virginia L. Cooley and husband Ted, Lester L. Fox and wife Brenda, and Karen E. Fox, all of Chambersburg; three grandchildren, Michael Fox and wife LeAnne, Cory Fox, and Jon Bookheimer; two step-grandchildren, Andy Cooley and wife Thelma, and Richard Cooley and wife Sayoko; two great-grandchildren, McKenna and Kaylee Fox; two step-great-grandchildren, Crystal and Christopher Cooley; and her sister, Margaret Harmon. Aside from her parents, Ada is preceded in death by her sister Agnes Bitner and an infant brother.

Funeral services will be held at 1 PM on Saturday, September 3, 2011 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, with Rev. Paul B. Baker and Rev. Lester F. Stine officiating. Interment will follow in Lincoln Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Buds of Promise Sunday School Class care of King Street United Brethren Church, 162 East King St. Chambersburg, PA 17201.
