Agnes P. Crouse, 91, of Chambersburg, passed away on Tuesday, December 27, 2016, at the Chambersburg Hospital due to complications of Alzheimer’s disease. Born June 6, 1925, in Harrisonburg, VA, she was a daughter of the late Robert and Tressie Myers Painter. Her husband, Robert G. Crouse, preceded her in death on August 22, 1992.
Agnes was a 1943 graduate of the former Chambersburg High School. She was employed as a Logistics Clerk at Letterkenny Army Depot for 30 years until her retirement. Agnes was a member of Kittochtinny Historical Society, AARP, NARFE and was a past president of the Franklin County Democratic Women’s Club. She served as a volunteer with the Franklin County Volunteer Transportation Network, Meals on Wheels, and the American Cancer Society. She also served as a Brownie and Girl Scout Leader. Agnes was the former historian and a lifelong member of St. Paul United Methodist Church. She enjoyed gardening and quilting.
Surviving are two children, John R. Crouse and wife Roxann of Monument, CO, and Kathy A.Crouse of Chambersburg; one sister, Dorothy Shatzer of FL; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by two siblings, Hallie Painter and Betty Boyer Merritt.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, December 31, 2016, at St. Paul United Methodist Church, 750 Norland Ave., Chambersburg, PA 17201. Rev. Rick Noll will officiate. Interment will follow the service in Parklawns Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Menno Haven Employee Appreciation Fund, c/o F&M Trust Bank, 2075 Scotland Ave., Chambersburg, PA 17201 or to St. Paul United Methodist Church at the above address.
