Albert Cromwell

Albert Gus “Mike” Cromwell, 86, of Aburndale, FL and formerly of Chambersburg, died on Friday, June 17, 2011 in Lakeland Regional Medical Center, Lakeland, FL. Born on June 28, 1924 in Clear Ridge, PA, he was the son of the late Gladstone and Olive Stains Cromwell.

A veteran of the U.S. Navy, Mike worked in construction from 1946 to 1965 and retired as a supervisor from Letterkenny Army Depot in Chambersburg. He served as Past Master of the George Washington Lodge # 143 F & AM in Chambersburg, and he was a member of the Burt J. Asper American Legion Post 46, the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge 842, and the Charles Nitterhouse VFW Post 1599, all in Chambersburg; and also the Zembo Temple and Consistory, both in Harrisburg.

He is survived by his step-son, Robert Luce of New York, NY; two sisters, Mary Stevens of Fayetteville, PA and Delores Cromwell of Ohio; and a number of nieces and nephews. Mike was preceded in death by his first wife, Janet Wagaman Cromwell in 1990; his second wife, Marion Luce Cromwell, in 2009; one brother, Lewis Cromwell; one sister, Lena Park; and two half-brothers, Walter Cromwell and Charles Ramsey.

Funeral services will be held at 10 AM on Wednesday, June 22, 2011 in the chapel of the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, with Rev. Ken Cornelius officiating. Interment will follow in Parklawns Memorial Gardens, where members of the VFW Post 1599 Honor Guard will conduct military graveside honors. The family will welcome friends in the funeral home from 6-8 PM on Tuesday and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday. A Masonic service will also be held at 7 PM on Tuesday in the funeral home.
