Albert L. “Abe” Edwards, 78, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away Thursday, January 11, 2018 at the Shook Home. Born October 19, 1939 in Holidaysburg, PA, he was a son of the late Samuel W. and Mary G. Tabor Edwards. Abe served with the US Army Reserve. He founded Abe’s Auto Service in Chambersburg in 1966 and continued as the owner and operator for many years. Abe was a member of the Chambersburg Brethren In Christ Church. He loved spending time with his family. His hobbies included hunting, racing, and boating.
He is survived by his wife, Zella L. Swope Edwards, whom he married May 14, 1961; his daughter, Sherri Flohr (husband Mark); his son, David Edwards (wife Christie), all of Chambersburg; five grandchildren, Christopher Edwards, Spencer Flohr, Elise Edwards, Caitlin Flohr, and Bethany Edwards; and two sisters, Donna Ott (husband Wesley) and Betty Washabaugh, all of Chambersburg. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Leonard; and a sister, Mildred Patterson.
A memorial service to celebrate Abe’s life will be held on Saturday, January 27, 2018, at 3:15 PM at the Chambersburg Brethren In Christ Church, 465 Center St., Chambersburg, PA, where Pastor Brent Wildeson and Rev. Ken Hepner will officiate. The family will receive friends from 1 – 3 PM at the above church prior to the service.
