Alcesta “Cess” (Smith) Kitzmiller, age 100, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away on Saturday, April 14, 2018 at Penn Hall Chambers Point. Born November 11, 1917, in Mt. Union, PA, she was the daughter of the late Alvin Guy and Florence (Flickinger) Smith.
After graduating from Shippensburg University, she taught school in Mt. Union, Lewistown and Chambersburg, retiring in 1976. She was a member of The Presbyterian Church of Falling Spring, PA Assoc. of School Retirees and a charter member of Norland A.A.R.P. #3261.
Surviving are three children, Joanne M. Starr of Cape May, NJ, Judith J. Crider (husband Thomas) of Chambersburg, PA, and Donald R. Kitzmiller of Chambersburg, PA; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; four great great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard L. Kitzmiller, a granddaughter, Cynthia J. Crider Cody, brother, James A. Smith, and sister, Regina Smith Engle.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, April 18, 2018, at 10:00 am in The Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg. Rev. Dr. Andrew Hart will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Parklawns Cemetery, Chambersburg. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to the charity of one’s choice.
