Alfred Spoonhour, 88, of Fayetteville, PA, died Thursday morning, May 9, 2013 at his home. Born March 17, 1925 in Fayetteville, he was a son of the late Charles H. and Mary J. Brown Spoonhour. A US Navy veteran of WWII, he retired from Mt. Cydonia Sand Company in Fayetteville. Alfred was a member of the Greater Good News Church of God in Christ. His wife, Isabelle Spoonhour, preceded him in death in 1985.
He is survived by four daughters, Mary Medina of Greencastle, Alfreda Hinton and husband Roger, and Carol Scott, all of Fayetteville, and Linda West and husband Columbus of Waynesboro, PA; fourteen grandchildren; forty-one great-grandchildren; and ten great-great grandchildren. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by three daughters, Sandy, Martha, and Marjorie; three grandchildren; and twelve siblings.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, May 16, 2013 at the Greater Good News Church of God in Christ, 601 South Main Street, Chambersburg, PA with Bishop Edgar L. Scott and Rev. Victor Johnson officiating. Interment will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Greencastle, PA. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
