Alice Fleagle

Alice Catherine Cordell Fleagle, age 88, of Fayetteville, PA, passed away unexpectedly in the Chambersburg Hospital on Saturday, December 29, 2012. Born December 28, 1924 in Ft. Loudon, PA, she was the daughter of the late John Calvin and Abbie Catherine Rife Cordell.
Mrs. Fleagle worked at various locations and in various industries throughout the country as she followed her husband and his career in government service; during WWII and from the time she was 18 she was employed for 25 years at the former Stanley Company in Chambersburg. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Salt Lake City, UT and transferred to Rosepine, LA Number 204 OES, a past president of West Central Shrine Club Ladies Organization to support Shriner’s Hospital for Disabled Children. She was also a member of the Daughter of The Nile, Salt Lake City, UT and The Ladies Oriental Shrine, Salt Lake City, UT. Mrs. Fleagle enjoyed crocheting, making quilts, and cross stitch.
Surviving is her husband of 66 years, LeRoy Wilson Fleagle, Sr. whom she married on April 25, 1946; her children LeRoy Wilson Fleagle, Jr. of Chambersburg, PA and Monte Ray Fleagle of AZ; seven grandchildren; three great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and one sibling, Jean Elizabeth Cordell Kriner. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by five siblings, Roy E. Cordell, Gladys M. Kennedy, Isabell M. Cassner, Betty F. Carmack, and Ned R. Cordell.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 3, 2012 at 9:30 AM in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg, PA; where Pastor William McCloskey will officiate. The family will receive friends in the funeral home on Wednesday, January 2, 2012 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM; where members of the Martha Custis Chapter No. 342, Order of the Eastern Star will offer a Memorial Ceremony at 8 PM. The family will also receive friends one hour prior to the service on Thursday in the funeral home. Interment will follow the service in Lincoln Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her name to the Shreveport Shriner’s Hospital, 3100 Samford Ave. Shreveport, LA 71103.
