Allen L. Shands, 73, of Chambersburg, PA and Myrtle Beach, SC and formerly of Manassas, VA and Orange, VA, passed away Monday morning, November 20, 2017. Born August 9, 1944, he was the son of the late M.L. (Bob) and Clara Lee Edwards Shands.
After attending Orange County High School in Orange, VA, he served in the U.S. Army National Guard and managed various Ford Motor Company sales departments in Culpeper and Manassas, VA until his retirement in 1998 from Battlefield Ford in Manassas. He was a member of the American Legion Post 46 and the Elks Lodge 600, both in Chambersburg. Allen enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and cooking.
His family will cherish memories of him as a devoted spouse, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend to many. He is survived by his wife Connie Pappas; two sons, Allen L. "Lee" Shands, Jr. and wife Dawn (Marsh) and their children Matthew and Emily Shands of Adkins, Texas, and Eric M. Shands and wife Jolinda (Nolt) and their children Marin and Keaton Shands of Chambersburg; and sister Patricia S. Gremmler of Albany, NY; and sister-in-law Sandra Trainum Shands of Bedford, VA. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife and mother of their two sons, Patricia H. Shands and his brother, James E. Shands.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 25, 2017, in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA. Pastor Darrell Baer will officiate. A private interment will be held in Lincoln Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home.
