Allen Smith

Allen C. Smith, 74, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away Monday, December 16, 2013 at Chambersburg Hospital. Born May 16, 1939 in Dudley, PA, he was a son of the late William and Florence Sparks Smith. Allen served with the US Army Reserve and the National Guard. He was employed for thirty years at Nitterhouse Concrete in Chambersburg. A member of the Chambersburg Baptist Church, he had served as a Deacon and part-time Sunday School teacher. He was an avid fisherman.

Allen is survived by his wife, Dorothy Mills Smith, whom he married June 3, 1961; three children, William A. Smith of Florida, Brenda K. Smith McGuire and husband Jim of Chambersburg, and Tracy Smith of Chambersburg; four grandchildren, Jessica Marie Coker, Ben McGuire, Jaime McGuire, and Randy Beam, Jr.; and three great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister, Margaret Barnett of Dudley; four brothers, Paul Smith and wife Kathleen of Dudley, Archie Smith and wife Edna of Arizona, Samuel Willis Smith and wife Gloria of Huntington, WV, and Charles Smith and wife Elsie of McConnellsburg; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday, December 19, 2013 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA with Pastor Kenny Craig officiating. Interment will follow at Parklawns Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM Thursday at the funeral home.

The family requests the omission of flowers and suggests memorial contributions be made to Chambersburg Baptist Church Building Fund, 588 South Second Street, Chambersburg, PA 17201.
