Alma V. Collins, 95, of Chambersburg, passed away on Thursday, September 12, 2024 at Transitions Healthcare Shook Home. Born August 15, 1929 in Chambersburg, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Stella Horn Reath. Her beloved husband, John N. Collins, whom she married on March 9, 1963, preceded her in death in 1999.

Alma was employed as a cook for the Chambersburg Area School District. She was previously employed at the J. Schoeneman Co. in Chambersburg and as a hairdresser. She was a member of Mt. Pleasant United Brethren Church in Chambersburg her whole life. Alma was Past President of the Auxiliary at Shook Home and had been a resident there for a little over a year. She enjoyed cooking, baking and was a perfectionist at keeping her home clean and neat.

She is survived by two daughters, Phyllis Smith, and Jean Pilgrim and husband Steve, both of Chambersburg; two grandchildren Gregory Pilgrim of Baltimore, MD and Kathryn Pilgrim of Dunkirk, NY; and many nieces and nephews and their families. Aside from her husband and parents, Alma was preceded in death by nine sisters and two brothers.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, September 24, 2024 at Norland Cemetery, Chambersburg, PA. Rev. Jim Bolich will officiate. Arrangements are entrusted to the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, Chambersburg, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Dementia Society of America at www.dementiasociety.org.
