Alma M. Snyder, 88, of Chambersburg, PA and formerly of Greencastle, PA, passed away on Friday morning, October 9, 2015 at the Chambersburg Hospital. Born March 17, 1927, she was a daughter of the late Noah and Bessie Gelsinger Statler. Her beloved husband of 61 years, Eugene “Gene” H. Snyder, preceded her in death on November 6, 2010.
Alma worked as a seamstress for the J. Schoeneman Company then the Stanley Company in Chambersburg until her retirement in 1989 after 24 years of service. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, gardening and growing flowers.
Alma is survived by three children, Dennis Snyder (wife Helene) of Charlotte, NC, Connie Shew (husband Michael) of Chambersburg, PA, and Brenda Myers (husband John) of Chambersburg, PA; her grandchildren, Angie, Cherie, Michael, Brad, and Eric; and five great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, Alma is preceded in death by two brothers, one in infancy and Melvin Statler.
A funeral service will be held to honor Alma’s life at 2:00 PM on Thursday, October 15, 2015, in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA. Rev. Floyd Myers will officiate. Interment will follow the service in Maplewood Cemetery, Marion, PA. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.
