Alvin L. Wenger, 73, of Chambersburg, PA passed away Saturday, July 8, 2023 in UPMC Harrisburg Hospital. Born July 12, 1949 in Chambersburg, PA he was the son of the late John D. and F. Catherine (Gayman) Wenger.
He was a graduate of Chambersburg Area Senior High School with the Class of 1967. Alvin was a dairy farmer for a number of years before becoming a milk truck driver with Barrick and Stewart Milk Hauling for the last 25 years. He faithfully attended Orrstown United Brethren Church. Alvin enjoyed spending time with his family, attending his kid’s and grandkid’s ball games, and maintaining his lawn.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Darlene F. (Zullinger) Wenger who he married July 19, 1969; six children, Gregory L. Wenger, Brian A. Wenger and his wife Gillian, Kristen M. Lehman and her husband Duane, Andrew W. Wenger and his wife Kenda, Jason S. Wenger and his wife Danae, and Stacy E. Lehman and her husband Michael; 22 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; five sisters, Mary Ann Wenger, Ruth Lehman, Kay Miller, Alice Hess, and Eileen Myers; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, Carl Wenger.
Services will be held 10:00 AM, Friday July 14, 2023 in Air Hill Brethren in Christ Church, 7041 Cumberland Highway, Chambersburg, PA 17202 with Rev. Gayle Ruble officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hall Cemetery, Pleasant Hall, PA.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM, Thursday evening in the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA 17202 as well as one hour prior to the service Friday morning in the church.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Orrstown United Brethren Church, 3689 Orrstown Road, Orrstown, PA 17244.
