Amy Buchanan

November 13, 1925 — May 22, 2012

Amy G. Buchanan, 87 formerly of Willow Grove, PA, passed from this life May 22, 2012 in Chambersburg Hospital. She had resided at Menno Haven for the past 3 ½ years. Born in Ambler, PA, she was a daughter of the late Alexander and Pearl Clayton Buchanan. Amy was a graduate of the Ambler High School and received her B.A. Degree from National College in Kansas. She attended Beaver College and Temple University. A business professional, she received many awards for excellent service during her career. Amy was an avid gardener, a passionate reader, an avid Philadelphia Phillies fan, and a music enthusiast who was active in her church and choir. She was a lifelong member of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Glenside, PA. Following her retirement she was an active volunteer with the hospice program at Abington Hospital. She also spent five years serving as a missionary in Japan.

She is survived by two sisters, Naomi Kerr of Hatboro, PA, and Eva Walker of Winchester, VA; four nephews, Stephen Walker and wife Michelle of Falling Waters, WV, David Walker and wife Lisa of Winchester, VA, Paul Walker of Atlanta, and John Walker and wife Hetty of Columbus, OH; and two nieces, Laura Walker of Winchester, VA and Dorothy Villegas of Largo, FL.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Interment will be private. Arrangements are entrusted to Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Chambersburg, PA.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Menno Haven, 2011 Scotland Avenue, Chambersburg, PA 17201.
