Ann F. Carr, age 90, of Chambersburg, PA, died Friday morning, February 21, 2014 at home with her children. Born February 4, 1924 in Strasburg, PA, she was a daughter of the late Walter and Blanche Coyle Metzler. Ann worked in her home as a beautician for 10 years until she and her family moved to Chambersburg in 1969. She was a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church and Burt J. Asper Post 46 American Legion, both in Chambersburg. Her favorite hobby was knitting. Her husband, Walter D. Carr, Sr. preceded her in death on July 5, 2009.
Ann is survived by two children, Walter D. Carr, Jr. and wife Paula of York, PA; and Marianne Iser and husband John of Chambersburg, PA; nine grandchildren, Angela Wilson and husband Ben of Latrobe, PA, David Conner of Fayetteville, PA, Raymond Conner and wife Veronika of Chambersburg, Sarah Green and husband Doug of Felton, DE, Bernice Carr of York, Katherine Carr of Red Lion, PA, Mary Anthony and husband Sean, of Virginia Beach, VA, John Iser, Jr. of Chambersburg, and Debbie Shatzley and husband Shane of Roxbury, PA; and ten great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by four siblings, Jane Flack, Mary Kachel, Betty Maurer, and Robert Metzler.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, February 24, 2014 in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA. Rev. Christopher Frye will officiate. Interment will follow in Parklawns Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
