Anna Louise Sedlak Charlton, of Fayetteville, PA and formerly of Long Branch, PA, lost her courageous seven year battle with cancer on Sunday afternoon, January 22, 2012. She was a 1959 graduate of the California (PA) High School and a 1962 graduate of California University of Pennsylvania. Anna was a caring person who touched numerous lives. She was a daughter of the late John and Janet Sedlak. Anna retired from the Chambersburg Area School District where she taught second grade at Duffield Elementary School and served on the Duffield Scholarship Committee. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Chambersburg where she was a member of the Hope Sunday School Class, the Caring Circle, the Missions Commission, the Neighborhood and After School Ministries, and the Ladie’s Reading Circle. She was a member of the Women’s Aerobics Group at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Fayetteville and was active in supporting Relay for Life to defeat cancer.
She is survived by her very loving husband, James E. Charlton; two sons, John David Charlton and wife Kimberly of Cambridge, OH and Curtis Dylan Charlton and wife Janice of Warminster, PA; eight grandchildren, Brandon Green and wife Christine, John Wolfe, Meagan, Jimmy, Isabel, Justin, Garth, and Bobby Charlton; a great-grandson, Rylee; and a sister, Olive Marie Conte and husband George of Ligonier, PA. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a brother, Robert A. Sedlak.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, January 27, 2012 in the sanctuary of First United Methodist Church, 225 South Second Street, Chambersburg, PA. Rev. Dick Williams and Rev. Dianne Salter will officiate. The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 AM Friday at the church.
