Anna Gearhart Freet

June 28, 1916 — February 3, 2017

Anna M. Gearhart Freet, 100, went home to be with her Lord on Friday morning, February 3, 2017 at Menno Haven. Born June 28, 1916 in Oakville, PA, she was the daughter of the late Roy and Elsie Clever Cordell.

Anna was employed as a seamstress for the Stanley Co. for 35 years until her retirement. She was later employed at the Franklin Learning Center and volunteered at the Falling Spring Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Anna was a faithful member of Marion First United Methodist Church and taught Sunday School for over 30 years.

She is survived by her daughter, Dorothy J. Poole and husband Norman of New Windsor, MD; two grandchildren, Allen Rill and wife Sherry of Hanover, MD and Sandy Brown and husband Jay of CO; four great grandchildren, Jesse, Allison, Leah and Cassidy; two great-great grandchildren, Jase and Kaiden; and two siblings, Donald Cordell of Greencastle and Hulda Russell of Chambersburg. In addition to her parents, Anna was preceded in death by her first husband, Roy Gearhart; her second husband, Paul Freet; her daughter, Evelyn Gearhart Rose; three brothers, Clifford, Herbert and Ross Cordell; and one sister, Faye Hoke.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, February 7, 2017 in Marion First United Methodist Church, 94 Colorado St. Box 382, Marion, PA 17235. Pastor Chris Renner will officiate. Interment will follow in Parklawns Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Marion First United Methodist Church at the above address, to be used towards the building fund.
