Anna Mary Long of Chambersburg, PA passed away at the Chambersburg Hospital on Thursday, December 26, 2024. Born in Chambersburg, PA on April 19, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Earl and Geraldine Knable Truax.
Anna was a loving wife, mother and grandmother known for her strength, hard work and unwavering love for her family. She enjoyed 67 years with her loving husband, Paul Long, whom she married on October 8, 1951. They dedicated their lives to raising their children and grandchild, most often cooking and gardening or hunting and fishing. They were also known to go on Friday night date nights.
In addition to her family, Anna showed a deep commitment to her community working for 30 plus years (until she was 80) with special needs children at the Lincoln Intermediate Unit and the Franklin Learning Center. Previously, she worked at the Stanley Company for 18 years and for ARC doing respite care.
In her later years after Paul passed, Anna spent much of her time with Kit Kat on her lap, a rescue kitten who she loved, and who loved her, unconditionally.
Surviving Anna are her two children, Joy Long and Michael Long (wife Dana) of Chambersburg, PA, and her grandson, Michael Long (wife Clair) of New York, NY, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul, and four siblings and their spouses, Ivan Truax (Rose), Thelma Mellott (Fred), Beatrice Mellott (Thornton) and Guy Truax (Wanda) and two infant brothers.
Graveside services will be held 11:00 AM, Thursday, January 2, 2025 in Parklawns Memorial Gardens, 3218 Philadelphia Ave., Chambersburg, PA 17201 with Pastor Rodney Truax officiating. Arrangements are by Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, Chambersburg.
