Ara Himelick

Ara Schuchaskie Himelick, 79, of Chambersburg, passed away on Saturday, August 4, 2018, at Menno Haven. Born December 4, 1938 in Webberville, Michigan, she was a daughter of the late Michael and Bernice Workman Schuchaskie.

Mrs. Himelick was a graduate of the Fowlerville High School in Fowlerville, Michigan. A homemaker most of her life, she enjoyed volunteering for various organizations, especially those involving the U.S Military. She loved her country and was very proud to be the wife a U.S. Army Veteran and was a member of the Military Wives club. Mrs. Himelick collected Hummel figurines. She also enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and other crafts. She attended the Chambersburg Baptist Church for many years, and especially enjoyed the adult Sunday School classes.

Ara is survived by her three sons, Rob Himelick (wife Jan) of White City, KS, Tim Himelick (wife Tammy) of Milford, KS, and Matt Himelick (wife Julia) of Mechanicsburg, PA; eight grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and brothers Michael Schuchaskie (wife Linda), Russell Schuchaskie (wife Cheryll), sisters Billie Vanamberg (husband Dale), Jackie Alling (husband Daniel), and Patricia Smith (husband Sid). In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Command Sergeant Major Joseph M. Himelick on February 24, 2003.

A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, August 23, 2018 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA. Rev. Paul B. Baker will officiate. Interment will be private. The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 AM Thursday at the funeral home.
