Arlene Gesell

Arlene M. Gesell, 94, passed away Wednesday afternoon, January 28, 2015 at Shippensburg Health Care Center. Born March 7, 1920 in Littlestown, PA, she was a daughter of the late George and Elsie Rohrbaugh Brown. Mrs. Gesell had been employed by Black and Decker for many years, retiring in 1985. She attended Five Forks Church near Waynesboro and enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and playing the organ. Her husband, G. Luther Gesell, preceded her in death in 1984.

She is survived by four grandchildren, Jason Gesell of South Mountain, PA, Matthew Gesell and wife Amy of Shippensburg, Rachael Gesell of Shippensburg, and Michelle Gesell of Waynesboro; four great-grandsons; and one great-granddaughter. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Brian Gesell; a brother, Milton Brown; and a sister, Elsie “Viola” Baugher.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Monday, February 2, 2015 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA, with Rev. Ray Kipe officiating. The family will receive friends from 9:00-10:00 AM Monday at the funeral home. Interment will be at 1:00 PM at Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Finksburg, MD. In lieu of flowers, memorial contribution may be made to Grane Hospice 4 Lemoyne Drive, Suite 201, Lemoyne, PA 17043.
