Arlene I. Overcash, age 95, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away on Saturday, May 26, 2018, at Quincy Village. Born April 7, 1923, she was a daughter of the late John W. and Iva M. Frey Mahon.
Mrs. Overcash was a 1941 graduate of the former Chambersburg High School. She worked as a nurse’s aide for a number of years, retiring in 1985 from The Shook Home in Chambersburg. She was a member of the New Testament Baptist Church. Mrs. Overcash enjoyed reading the Bible, crocheting, baking, playing bingo, and being the prayer warrior for her family.
Surviving are four children, Cheryl Burdett of Doylesburg, PA, Bertha McNew (husband Wilbur) of Chambersburg, PA, Garnet Cook, Jr. (wife Bonnie) of Waynesboro, PA, and Pamela Gipe (husband Ronald) of Fayetteville, PA; 9 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and 24 great great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, B. Paul Overcash, five brothers, and four sisters.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 31, 2018, at 11:30 AM in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg, PA; where Pastor Garnet Cook III and Pastor John Pogue will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the funeral home. Interment will follow the service in Parklawns Memorial Gardens. The family wishes to thank the staff at Quincy Village for the care they provided to Arlene.
