Arthur Brown

Rev. Arthur E. Brown, 73, of Chambersburg, went to be with the Lord Thursday evening, October 27, 2011 from Chambersburg Hospital. Born January 4, 1938 in Chambersburg, he was a son of the late John and Anna Kriner Brown. Art served in the US Air Force and was employed early in his life at Grove Manufacturing in Shady Grove, PA. For the past 35 years, Art served as Assistant Pastor of The Open Door Church. His beloved wife, Freida Robinson Brown, whom he married October 21, 1962, preceded him in death on June 9, 2000.

He is survived by three children, Curt E. Brown of Chambersburg, Robert A. Brown and wife Lola of State Line, and Lana K. Petitfrere of Chambersburg; five grandchildren; eleven step-grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two brothers, Russell Brown and wife Doris of Fayetteville and Raymond Brown and wife Joyce of Chambersburg; five sisters, Betty Chilcutt and husband Ralph of Chambersburg, Mary Brown of Chambersburg, Kathy Beck and husband Paul of Fayetteville, Teresa Naugle and husband Robert; and Karen Boyd and husband Fred, all of South Mountain; and a sister-in-law Donna Brown of Chambersburg, PA. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Arthur E. Brown, Jr. in 1965, and a brother, John Brown.

The family will receive friends from 7:00-9:00 PM Sunday, October 30, 2011 and from 1:00 PM until funeral services begin at 2:00 PM Monday at The Open Door Church. Rev. Mike Sanders and Rev. Carl McKee will officiate. Interment will follow at Salem Cemetery.
