Arthur “Art” Nicholas Ott, 90, of Chambersburg and formerly of Halifax, PA, died on Tuesday, June 25, 2024 at Providence Place in Chambersburg. He was the son of the late Nicholas and Josefine Ott.

Born in Yonkers, NY, Arthur graduated from Roosevelt High School and served on the U.S.S. Randolph during the Korean War. In 1958 he received his B.S. in Agronomy from Delaware Valley College and his PhD in Hydrology from Rutgers University in 1964. For 24 years Arthur was employed by the Water Resources Division of the United States Geological Survey. He later retired from the Susquehanna River Basin Commission.

 Arthur currently worshiped at Corpus Christi Church and formerly at St. Bernadette in Duncannon, PA, where he served as a Eucharistic Minister and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed golf, fishing and bowling. His favorite activity was the Salvation Army Soup Kitchen where he volunteered for over 25 years and was fondly celebrated as “spaghetti man”.

 Surviving are his wife, Deborah; two sons, Christopher (Melissa) Ott of Palmyra and Matthew Ott of Halifax; two step-sons, Karl (Jenny) Schreiber of Greencastle and Hans (Taynya) Schreiber of Elizabethtown; step-daughter, Amy (Jim) Bian of Richmond, VA; thirteen grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and several cousins, nieces and nephews who reside in Germany. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Madeline and his brother, Walter.

 A Memorial Mass will be held on Tuesday, July 2nd, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 320 Philadelphia Ave., Chambersburg, with Fr. Allan Wolfe as celebrant. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church narthex. Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army of Chambersburg, 159 Lincoln Way West, Chambersburg, PA 17201. Interment will be at the convenience of the family.
