Avery Marie Shatzer, 6, of Fayetteville, PA passed away Thursday, January 9, 2025, surrounded by her loving family who adored her. Born July 31, 2018 in Chambersburg, PA she was the daughter of Jared M. and Bethany M. (Helman) Shatzer.
Avery was literally a one in a million girl. She was born with Pontocerebellar Hypoplasia (PCH) which is extremely rare. Areas of her brain did not form correctly which prevented her from doing everyday things that we take for granted.
Avery had a contagious giggle that could light up any room and chase away any shadows. She brought so much light and joy to her family and everyone that knew her. Avery loved to soak up the sunshine and spend time in the water.
The dragonfly is the symbol for PCH and carries immense meaning for those who have loved her. Please join us in thinking of and honoring Avery every time you see a dragonfly.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her older sister, Mackenzie L. Danzberger; her younger sister Brynlee M. Shatzer; grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Services will be private at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are by Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, Chambersburg.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Penn State Children’s Hospital at www.pennstatehealth.org/childrens/giving.
