Barbara Bishop

Barbara A. Bishop age 75, of Chambersburg, PA, walked through Heavens Gates at the Chambersburg Hospital on Sunday, August 28, 2016. Born July 3, 1941, in Chambersburg, she was the daughter of the late William and Bertha Furry Small.
A 1959 graduate of the Chambersburg Area Senior high School, Barbara went on to work in retail sales. She was an active and dedicated member of Grace Brethren Church, where she devoted time in the infant nursery, volunteering as a greeter, participating in the Tuesday Ladies Bible Study, volunteering in meal preparation, and the release time bible program. She loved to play bingo, bowl, especially in the Tuesday Fun League at Lincoln Lanes. She also enjoyed watching the Atlanta Braves, collecting Angel Figurines, watching the Game Show Network, and spending time with her family and beloved pet dog, Cotton.
Surviving is her beloved husband of 54 years, Jack Bishop, whom she married June 16, 1962; three children, Barry W. Bishop (wife Nancy) of Cumberland, MD, Candy L. Summers (husband Troy) of Chambersburg, PA, and Artie D. Bishop of Chambersburg, PA; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren, with the sixth great-grandchild enroute, Ethan Summers; a brother, Charles W. Small (wife Kathy) of Chambersburg, PA; two nephews; and numerous other family and friends.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 1, 2016, from 6 – 9 PM at the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg, PA 17202. A memorial service will be held on Friday, September 2, 2016, at 11 AM at Grace Brethren Church, 315 S. Edwards Ave., Chambersburg, PA 17202, where Pastor John B. Bayer, Jr. will officiate. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to the above church and address.
