Barbara Hixon

Barbara Anne Hixon, 65, of Fayetteville, PA, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 12, 2011 in the Chambersburg Hospital, after a courageous 6-month battle with cancer. Born on August 5, 1946 in Orchard Park, NY, she was a daughter of the late Robert T. and Marian L. Clauss Noll.

Barbara was a graduate of D'Youville College in Buffalo, NY, where she earned both Bachelor's and Master's degrees. After several years as a devoted special education teacher, she chose to focus on what was her greatest accomplishment and joy, her home and family. In recent years, Barbara enjoyed volunteering her time with the Hospice of the Good Shepherd, spending as much time as possible with her family, and traveling with her husband.

She is survived by her loving husband of over 43 years, Robert A. Hixon, whom she married on December 26, 1967; three children, Scott Hixon (wife, Tracy, and sons, Christopher and Nicholas) of Acworth, GA, Andie Snyder (husband, Matt, and sons, Jack and Drew) and David Hixon (wife, Sara, and children, Ethan, Landon, and Mallory) all of Charolotte, NC; sister Jeanne Garich (husband, Peter) of Smiths Grove, KY; mother-in-law, Ruth E. Hixon of Santa Barbara, CA; and other extended family.

The family will welcome friends from 6-8 PM on Thursday, November 17, in the Thomas L Geisel Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Rd. Chambersburg. A memorial service will follow at 8 PM in the chapel. Rev. Fr. Keith Carroll will officiate. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions may be made to the John L. and Cora I. Grove Cancer Center 755 Norland Avenue Suite 100 Chambersburg,
PA 17201.
