Barbara Ann “Barb” Kauffman, 80, of Fayetteville, PA, passed away on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at the Chambersburg Hospital. Born July 18, 1944, in Chambersburg, she was a daughter of the late Hubert F. Snyder and Mildred R. Kennedy Kistler. Her beloved husband, Wilbur Duane Kauffman, preceded her in death on March 4, 1986.
Barb was a 1963 graduate of CASHS. She dedicated most of her life to making a home for her family which she demonstrated often by cooking and baking for them. She also loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren and hearing about everything they were involved with and all the activities in which they were involved. She also enjoyed diamond painting and spoiling her daughter Angie’s dog, Rollins.
Barb was an active member of the Charles Nitterhouse VFW Post 1599 Ladies Auxiliary for 49 years. She served as president of that organization from 1975-77 and again from 2003 – 2021. Barb also served as past District 21 president.
She is survived by five children, Deb Kessinger (Dale) of Fayetteville, Mike Kauffman (Deb) of Chambersburg, Duane Kauffman (Jennifer) of Fayetteville, Sam Kauffman (Janel) of Greencastle, and Angie Kauffman of Fayetteville; eight grandchildren, Carla Kessinger (Mark Drake) of Charleston, SC, Kim Miller of Fayetteville, Cole Brown of Harrisburg, Amanda Strock (Jan) of Chambersburg, Zachary Kauffman (Amber) of Chambersburg, Shawn Kauffman (Jaryne) of Fayetteville, Brenton Kauffman (Celeste) of Houston, TX, and Cameron Kauffman (Bre) of Greencastle; 13 great grandchildren; five siblings, Elaine Roelke, Evonne Zeigler, Carl Snyder (Deb), Carlene Yohe, and Paula Stepler (Carl); sister-in-law, Lois Snyder; and brother-in-law, Larry Helm. Aside from her parents and husband, Barb was preceded in death by two siblings, Paul “Sonny” Snyder, and Patricia Helm.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at the Charles Nitterhouse VFW Post 1599, 747 S. 4th St., Chambersburg, PA 17201, at a later date. Arrangements are entrusted to the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, Chambersburg, PA. Memorial contributions may be made out to the VFW Auxiliary 1599 Cancer Fund and mailed to the above address.
