Barbara Kauffman Peck Thompson

Barbara Joy West Kauffman Peck Thompson “Barbie”, age 73, of Fayetteville, PA, passed away on Tuesday, January 19, 2016, at her home with her family by her side after a courageous battle with cancer. Born February 12, 1942, in Chambersburg, PA, she was the daughter of the late Boyd “Preach” and Elsie Mae Ulrich West.
Barbie was a 1960 graduate of CASHS. She worked at Letterkenny Army Depot for over 30 years, retiring in 2001, as a Program Analyst, so she could have more time to spend with her great granddaughter.. She was a member of Mt. Pleasant United Brethren Church, the American Business Women Association, NARFE, and the Red Hat Society. Barbie enjoyed crafting, the Red Hats, camping, scrapbooking, cooking, sunbathing, reading, and spending time with family. Her most cherished past time was decorating her home and her nine Christmas Trees for Christmas, which was her favorite time of year, and was reflected with her part-time employment at the former Paul Corbett House in Fayetteville, PA for many years.
Surviving is her husband, Ronnie E. Thompson, whom she married on May 14, 2005, her son, Robin E. Kauffman and wife Debbie of Chambersburg, PA; a granddaughter, Nikki Naugle (husband Josh); three step-children, Tara N. Mildenberger (husband Mark) of Centreville, MD, Todd A. Thompson of Pasadena, MD, and Joshua Claar of Baltimore, MD; five step-grandchildren, Bobby, Luke, and Anna Mildenberger and Cody and Brianna Claar; two great grandchildren, BayLee Krug and Blake Reuter; two siblings, Maureen “Quinkie” Heckman of Elizabethtown, PA and Bonnie Freel of Tucson, AZ; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Peck and a sister, Trudy West.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 22, 2016, at 11:30 AM in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg, PA; where Rev. Christopher Little will officiate. The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 21 from 6 – 9 PM and one hour prior to the service in the funeral home. Interment will follow the service I Parklawns Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her name to Spiritrust Lutheran Hospice, 2700 Luther Dr., Chambersburg, PA 17202. .
