Barbara Ann Svenningsen, 61, of Fayetteville, PA, passed away on Saturday, November 11, 2017 at Geisinger Holy Spirit Hospital, Camp Hill, PA. Born March 18, 1956 in Kearny, NJ, she was the eldest daughter of the late William and Carol Chenard. Barbara, along with her children, resided in Boundbrook, NJ until moving to Fayetteville, PA in 2006.
Barbara’s true passion was caring for her children and grandchildren. She is survived by her son, John Fritz of Sommerville, NJ; daughters Jessica Leopold and husband Joshua of Fayetteville and Cheyenne Svenningsen and companion Brandon Weaver of Leitersburg, MD; grandchildren Liam Leopold, Lyla Leopold, Presley Leopold, and Bentley Weaver; sisters Karen Pellegrino and companion Dave Thorpe of Leitersburg, MD and Patricia Bergh and companion Joseph Galica of Plainfield, NJ; her ex-husband and friend, Craig Svenningsen of Ormand Beach, FL; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Barbara loved to stay busy. She was very active in her children’s lives as a PTA mom, Cub Scout and Girl Scout leader, and as the Matriarch of her family. She spent much of her time cooking for others; from having her own catering business, to cooking for her family, she was always nourishing the souls of others. She spent the last six years working and making friends at Rutter’s. Barbara enjoyed a good yard sale, but most importantly spending time with her family. Spreading the joy of Christmas and decorating her home for the holidays was something she looked forward to every year. Even after her passing, Barbara’s strong desire to help others continued as she gave the gift of life as an organ donor.
Services will be held at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her memory may be made to Toys for Tots by donating a gift item to your local Toys for Tots or by donating to Marine Toys for Tots Foundation, Gift Processing Administrator, 18251 Quantico Gateway Drive, Triangle, VA 22172.
Arrangements are entrusted to Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Chambersburg, PA.
