Barbara H. Taylor, 78, of Chambersburg, PA, died Tuesday afternoon, July 17, 2012 at her home. Born November 26, 1933 in Bethany, OK, she was a daughter of the late Elza Sherman and Hilda Caroline Bates Taylor. Barbara was a 1951 graduate of the Middlebranch High School in Middlebranch, OH and went on the graduate from nursing school at Aultman Hospital in Canton, OH. A Registered Nurse, Barbara’s passion in nursing was Pediatric Emergency Room care. She held various nursing positions throughout her forty-six year career and was last employed at the Jessup Women’s Prison in Jessup, MD. She was a member of the Chambersburg Council of the Arts and most recently attended King Street United Brethren Church. Barbara enjoyed china painting and was an accomplished pianist. Throughout her lifetime she had taught Sunday School and served as a director of church plays. Her hobbies included reading and tending to her plants and garden. Barbara had a great love for cooking and animals, especially her dog, Tucker. She was an avid fan of the Baltimore Orioles.

She is survived by her sisters, Margaret (Mrs. Carl W.) Thatcher and Lois M. Billings, all of Chambersburg; a brother, John David Taylor and wife Marie of Severn, MD; and numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant sister, Caroline; two infant brothers, George and Charles; and a brother Roy S. Taylor.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, July 21, 2012 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA with Rev. David M. Shaw officiating. Interment will follow at Parklawns Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM Friday and from 10:00-10:45 AM Saturday at the funeral home.
