Bassina Sonjaline Barbour Hinton, age 77, of Chambersburg, PA, passed on Thursday, April 12, 2018, at the Falling Spring Nursing and Rehab Center. Born April 6, 1941, in Chambersburg, she was a daughter of the late Arthur Cook Barbour, Sr. and Minnie Catherine Stoner Barbour.
Mrs. Hinton was a 1959 graduate of CASHS. She worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad as a secretary for a number of years, before becoming a full time Mom. She enjoyed caring for her family, cooking, drawing, completing puzzles, and reading.
Surviving is her beloved husband of 59 years, Donald B. Hinton, Jr., whom she married on March 7, 1959; five children, Rosita Johnson of Dumfries, VA, Donald B. Hinton III of Chambersburg, Andrew S. Hinton of Chambersburg, Brian L. “Poncho” Hinton (wife Belinda) of Lumberton, NC, and Matilda A. “Angel” Hinton-Andrews (husband Efrem) of Florence, SC; six grandchildren, Leenda Hinton, Ulan Johnson, Gavin Williams, ShyAnn Hinton-Gajcowski, Brittany Hinton and Shania Hinton; seven great-grandchildren; and five siblings, Mildred Kelly, Anna Barbour, Sylvester Barbour, Minnie Rideout, and Marvin Barbour. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Ricardo E. Hinton-Johnson, and five siblings.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 20, 2018, at 10 AM in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg, where Pastor Charles Jenkins will officiate. The family will receive friends in the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow the service in Lebanon Cemetery.
