Bayward Osborn

Bayward I. “Ozzy” Osborn, age 96, of Fayetteville, PA, passed away on Friday, October 19, 2012 at the Village of Laurel Run Nursing Home. Born July 24, 1916 in Altoona, PA, he was the son of the late Owen and Elizabeth Stevenson Osborn.
A U.S. Army veteran, Ozzy served honorably during WW II, where he was awarded a Bronze star for his service. Ozzy worked for Exolon Co. in Towanda, NY as a machine operator for 28 years, retiring in 1981. He had a passion for singing and entertaining, where he was a member of the “Covered Wagon Boys” from Altoona, PA, prior to his military service; he also enjoyed hunting fishing, gardening, and singing to the residents at The Village of Laurel Run Retirement Community.
Surviving is his daughter, Carol L. Noyes (husband the late Hollis) of Fayetteville, PA; three grandchildren, Edward Noyes, Steven Noyes, and Kristi Dunkle; five great grandchildren; and two great - great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Isabelle I. McGinley Osborn in 2005, two brothers, four sisters, and one granddaughter, Sheryl Schaeffer.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 24, 2012 at 1:00 PM in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg, PA; where Rev. Ken Reid will officiate. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 23 from 7:00 until 9:00 PM and one hour prior to the service in the funeral home. Interment will follow the service in Lincoln Cemetery with military honors provided by members of the Charles Nitterhouse Post 1599, VFW Honor Guard.
