Belva G. Smith Foreman, 91, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away Wednesday, May 11, 2022 at the Chambersburg Hospital. Born September 21, 1930 in Chambersburg, she was a daughter of the late Robert G. and Agnes Finkey Smith. Mrs. Foreman was a 1948 graduate of the former Chambersburg High School and was last employed at the Bon-Ton in Chambersburg. She was a member of Park Avenue United Methodist Church where she assisted with the bookkeeping, sang with the church choir, and was a member of the United Methodist Women. She loved reading, playing Scrabble, crossword and jigsaw puzzles, and was a Penn State Football fan. Her husband, Robert Earl Foreman, whom she married July 8, 1948, preceded her in death on March 25, 2017.
She is survived by her daughter, Robbie Foreman of Del Haven, NJ; three grandchildren, Keith VanAsdalan of San Diego, CA, Heidi Hawbaker and husband Matt of Chambersburg, and Kevin VanAsdalan and wife Beth of Coraopolis, PA; two great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Levi Hawbaker of Chambersburg; her sister, Leah Williams and husband Wesley of Fayetteville; a special family friend, Beth Gabler; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Donna Harvill in December of 2020 and her brother, Lee R. Smith.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, May 21, 2022 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA. Rev. Layne Miller Vizthum will officiate. Interment will follow at Norland Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 - 11:00 AM on Saturday at the funeral home. The family kindly requests that those in attendance please wear a mask.
