Benjamin Holtry

Benjamin B. Holtry, Sr., 77 of Chambersburg, PA, died Saturday morning, April 13, 2013 at his home. Born September 28, 1935 in Chambersburg, he was a son of the late Harvey and Sarah Hendricks Holtry. Mr. Holtry retired from Harrisburg Dairies, formerly Dairy Maid, after 30 years of service. He was a member of the Chambersburg First Church of God where he served as an usher and was a member of the Ever Faithful Sunday School class. An avid Washington Redskins fan, he enjoyed pitching horseshoes, showing his 1967 GTO, and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Erma Gearhart Holtry, whom he married November 26, 1954; five children, Marisa K. Suders of Chambersburg, Benjamin B. Holtry, Jr. of Chambersburg, Darrell L. Holtry and wife Crystal of Fayetteville, Kevin E. Holtry and wife Donna of Mont Alto, and Malina S. Ray and husband Shawn of Colorado Springs, CO; ten grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson. He is also survived by three brothers, Hull Holtry and wife Joan, Ronald Holtry and wife Michelle, and Terry Holtry and wife Kay; as well as two sisters, Doris Miller and Saundra Holtry. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, four sisters, and one infant sibling.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, April 17, 2013 at the Chambersburg First Church of God with Rev. Earl Mills officiating. Interment will follow at Parklawns Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM Tuesday at Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the church.
