Benjamin W. “Benny” Valora, age 22, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away on Monday, August 17, 2015, at the Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore, MD. Born in Hershey, PA on April 2, 1993, he was the son of William Valora, Jr. and Frances Papoutsis Valora.
Benny was a 2014 graduate of the Chambersburg Area Senior High School and the Chambersburg NHS Autism School. He had also attended the Franklin Learning Center. He was a kind and gentle soul with a sweet disposition; his last gesture of kindness was given on Thursday, August 20, 2015, where he had given the gift of life to five organ recipients through the Living Legacy Foundation. Benny loved music and loved playing with his toys and could be a prankster in his own way. He had the most infectious smile and was nicknamed “sweetie boy” by his maternal grandmother. He was also known as his dad’s “Little Buddy”.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by six siblings; William M. Valora of Virginia Beach, VA, Tina L. Cooper of Dagsboro, DE, Tammy S., Funk of Etters, PA, Michael B. Valora of Phoenixville, PA, Abram M. Cochran and Rachael J. McCleaf of Pittsburgh, PA.
The family will receive friends on Monday, August 24, 2015, from 7 – 9 PM at the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg, PA and on Tuesday from 3 – 4 PM prior to the service at the church. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 25, 2015, at 4 PM at St. Mary Orthodox Church, 2063 Lincoln Way East, Chambersburg, PA, where Fr. Ted Pulcini and Fr. Dennis Buck will officiate. Interment will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his name to the Kennedy-Krieger Foundation, office of Philanthropy, 707 N. Broadway, Baltimore, MD 21205 or to the Johns Hopkins Foundation, 750 E. Pratt St., 17th Floor, Baltimore, MD 21202.
