Bernard “Benny” Deardorff, age 58, of Chambersburg, passed away at home with his wife by his side, on Sunday, April 29, 2018. Born in Waynesboro, PA, on November 20, 1959, he was a son of the late Roy Deardorff and Dorothy Wagner.
Benny was a farmer and cattle dealer. He enjoyed going to auctions, buying and selling cattle. He also loved watching football and was an avid Philadelphia Eagles fan. He spent his free time as a deer hunter, race car driver and horse puller. He especially treasured the time spent with his grandchildren.
Surviving are his devoted wife of 37 years, Kathy Deardorff, whom he married on October 24, 1980; his son, Ben Deardorff and fiancé Lauren Winder, his daughter Nikki McMaster and husband Greg; his grandchildren, Morgan and Kacie McMaster, and Benson Deardorff; as well as his brothers Leon and Dale Deardorff and Daryl Wagner. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Marlene Bachtel and brother Junior Deardorff.
A memorial service in Benny’s honor will be held on Friday, May 4, 2018 at 11:00 AM at New Franklin Assembly of God, 2355 New Franklin Road, Chambersburg, PA 17202. Pastor William Dick will officiate. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made payable to Kathy Deardorff, 3025 Wayne Road, Chambersburg, PA 17202. Arrangements are entrusted to the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home.
