Bessie Evelyn Thompson, 76, of Chambersburg, PA, passed Saturday afternoon, November 10, 2018 at the Chambersburg Hospital. Born October 8, 1942 in Chambersburg, she was a daughter of the late Hugh Crittenden, Sr. and Olive H. Morris Crittenden. She was a 1962 graduate of the Chambersburg Area Senior High School and retired from the Naval Sea Systems Command in Arlington, VA. She had at one time worked in catering at the Marriott while residing in Bermuda. Bessie was a member of Unity In Christ Church, Chambersburg, PA where she was active with the overseas missionaries. She was an avid television watcher. Her husband of twenty-five years, Douglas J. Thompson, preceded her in death on July 9, 2009.

She is survived by her daughter, Tracy R. Crittenden of Silver Spring, MD; step-children Selena, Jodi, Sharmaine, and Crystal, and numerous step great-grandchildren, all of Bermuda; her sister Toynettie Crittenden; and her brother, Hugh Crittenden, III, both of Chambersburg. She is also survived by nieces Linda Garner, Monique Crittenden, Nicole Garner, Christina Turner, Carla Jackson, and Gabrielle Garner; and her great-niece, Bella Turner. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her great niece, Kenya Garner. She also leaves a special pet, Tika.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, November 17, 2018 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA. Rev. Dr. Lois A. Waters will officiate. Interment will follow at Lebanon Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 AM Saturday at the funeral home.
