Betty L. Bard, 88, of Chambersburg, passed away on Saturday, March 5, 2022 at Magnolias of Chambersburg surrounded by her loving family. Born July 15, 1933 in Chambersburg, she was a daughter of the late John and Violet Briggs Amsley. Her beloved husband, Billie A. Bard, preceded her in death on August 21, 2015.
Betty was a 1951 graduate of Lemasters High School. She and her husband were the owner/operators of B&B Camper Sales in Chambersburg. Following their retirement, she and her husband were seasonal residents of Ft. Myers and Cape Coral, FL. She was a member of Cornerstone Church of Christ, the Red Hat Society of Ft. Myers, FL, and a life member of the VFW Post 1599 Ladies Auxiliary. Betty enjoyed painting, flower gardening, spending time at the beach and traveling. She also enjoyed her beloved dog, Penny.
She is survived by three daughters, Ginger Edmondson (husband Gary) of Chambersburg, PA, Deborah Smith of Ft. Myers, FL, and P. Kim Ocker (husband Galen “Zeke”) of Chambersburg, PA; four grandchildren, Chad McClure, (wife Mary), Christopher Scott Smith (wife Tisha), Hollie Smith Schmid (husband Peter), and Joshua Ocker; five great-grandchildren, Ashley Walker, Josi Smith, and Addison, Axel, and Asher Schmid; one great-great grandson, Brighton Walker; two sisters, Phyllis Clever (husband Terry) of Mercersburg, and Donna Shindle of Ocean City, MD; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, March 9, 2022 at Cornerstone Church of Christ, 1350 Tallow Hill Road, Chambersburg, PA 17202. Rev. Jerry Timbrook will officiate. Entombment will follow the service at Parklawns Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA 17202, and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Stroke Association, PO Box 840692, Dallas, TX 75284-0692.
