Betty Bowers

August 30, 1930 — October 8, 2011

Betty M. Bowers, 81, of Fayetteville, went to be with her Lord on Saturday, October 8, 2011 at her home. Born August 30, 1930 in Reading, PA, she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Beatrice Stott Freeman. A loving mother whose children were the center of her life, Betty very much enjoyed the phone conversations she had with her daughter Melody. She was a member of The Open Door Church, the Burt J. Asper Post 46 American Legion, the Charles M. Nitterhouse, Post 1599 VFW, and a Past District Vice Commander of the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 78.

She is survived by her husband, David Bowers whom she married August 23, 1958; her daughter, Melody L. Fahrney and husband Robert of Waynesboro; her son, David C. Bowers and wife Heidi of Fayetteville; four grandchildren, Shawn and Krystle Ebersole, and Hope and Faith Bowers; and one great-grandchild, Raelyn Ebersole. Aside from her parents, Betty is preceded in death by two infant brothers.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, October 12, 2011 at The Open Door Church, 600 Miller St. Chambersburg, PA 17201. Rev. Mike Sanders will officiate. Interment will follow in Parklawns Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorial contributions may be made in Betty’s name to The Open Door Church at the above address.
