Betty Carlin

June 30, 1942 — May 6, 2015

Betty L. Carlin, 72, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away Wednesday afternoon, May 6, 2015 at Chambersburg Hospital. Born June 30, 1942 in McConnellsburg, she was a daughter of the late Kenneth Joseph and Helen Sowers Carbaugh. Betty was a graduate of the Chambersburg Area Senior High School and the former Chambersburg Hospital School of Nursing. A Licensed Practical Nurse, she was employed at Chambersburg Hospital for 35 years, retiring in 2005. She was a member of Central Presbyterian Church and most recently attended King Street United Brethren Church. She was a member of the Detrich-Brechbill Post 612 American Legion Auxiliary in St. Thomas. Betty was an avid reader and enjoyed watching NASCAR. Following her retirement, she and her husband spent time traveling throughout the United States and enjoyed attending their grandchildren’s sporting events.

She is survived by her husband, Paul E. Carlin, whom she married June 11, 1966; her son, Timothy E. Carlin and wife Christie; and her grandsons, Joshua and Jacob Carlin, all of Chambersburg; two brothers, Harvey Carbaugh and wife Cyndi of Myrtle Beach, SC and Richard Carbaugh and wife Delores of St. Thomas; three sisters, Jean Brookens of Chambersburg, Debbie Yeager and husband Ralph of New Franklin, and Teresa Shuler and husband Michael of Shippensburg; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Martha; and a brother, Robert.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, May 9, 2015 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA with Rev. Lester F. Stine officiating. Private interment will be in Union Cemetery, McConnellsburg, PA. There will be no public viewing.
