Betty M. (Miller) Danzberger of Spirit Lutheran, 2781 Luther Drive Chambersburg, PA passed away on October 10, 2021. Born on the family farm in Waynecastle, PA on December 8, 1925, she was the only daughter of Melchor Snively and Mary (Mayhugh) Miller. In her early years she attended Hill Grove school before the family moved to Greencastle in 1940. She then attended and graduated from Greencastle-Antrim High School with the class of 1942.
Betty began work at Letterkenny Ordnance Depot in 1942, where she met the love of her life George E. Danzberger. They were married on December 7, 1946, and honeymooned in New York City. She worked at Letterkenny until 1954 and then took several years off for childrearing purposes. She returned to work at the U.S. Dept. of Labor in Chambersburg in the Wage and Hour Division in 1960, eventually accepting a positon back at Letterkenny in the Personnel Division. She accepted positions of increasing responsibility over the years, and eventually was instrumental in the adoption and implementation of the Depot’s Equal Employment Opportunity activity.
After her retirement in 1974, she focused on her many hobbies and interests. She was active in Trinity Lutheran Church for many years. A longtime member of the choir, she also served on many committees over the years and served several terms on the Church Council. She was an accomplished seamstress and tailor, creating many custom garments for friends and family over the years.
During their retirement, Betty and George enjoyed traveling, making two coast trips in their RV and went on several cruises. They also took an extended trip to Europe, celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary, and wintered in Florida for 25 years. She enjoyed bowling for many years and became an avid golfer after her retirement.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, George E. (Danny) Danzberger in September 2020, and siblings, Melchor (Meck) Miller, George Miller, Paul Miller, Richard (Dick) Miller, and Donald (Duck) Miller. She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
