Betty Frey

Betty “Joyce” Frey, 90, of Chambersburg, passed away on Thursday, September 17, 2015 at Menno Haven. Born April 14, 1925 in Lewistown, PA, she was a daughter of the late Willis J. and Elizabeth E. (Wolfkill) Boyer. Her beloved husband of 45 years, Glen E. Frey, preceded her in death on September 5, 2012.

Joyce was a 1943 graduate of Lewistown High School. She worked for 63 years at People’s Drug Store/CVS Pharmacy until her retirement in 2008. Joyce was a member of Salem United Brethren Church in Chambersburg. She enjoyed gospel music, singing in the church choir, and collecting cow novelties. She was a very positive influence on all of her friends and family.

Joyce is survived by her son Gary Grove and wife Mary Jo of Media, PA; three grandchildren, Elizabeth Joyce Wickersheim of Kenosha, WI, John Willis Grove of Malvern, PA, and Mary Louise Grove of New York, NY; three great-grandchildren, Alex and Troy Wickersheim and Natalie Grove; a sister-in-law, Helen Boyer of Chambersburg; and many loving nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Joyce is preceded in death by three brothers, Kenneth Boyer, Robert “Red” Boyer, and Richard Boyer; and two sisters, Dolly Rodgers and Carolynn Diffenderfer.

A funeral service to honor Joyce’s life will be held on Monday, September 21, 2015 at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road Chambersburg, PA. Rev. Art Page will officiate. Interment will follow in Salem Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Salem United Brethren Church, 4349 Letterkenny Road, Chambersburg, PA 17201. The family would like to express their thanks to Menno Haven, SpiriTrust Lutheran Hospice and Joyce’s good friend, Donna Rosenberry for the care they provided in her time of need.
