Betty Friese

Betty Jane Friese, 88, of Chambersburg, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, October 28, 2021. Born August 10, 1933 in Waynesboro, she was the daughter of the late Clinton and Ida Shrader Myers.

Early in her life, Betty was employed in the cafeteria at the Chambersburg Hospital. She later dedicated her time to making a home for her family. She was most recently employed at Corning Glass Works until her retirement in 1996. Betty was a member of Mt. Olivet United Brethren Church. She was an avid jigsaw puzzle builder and enjoyed flower gardening and Southern gospel music.

She is survived by her husband of 70 years, Glenn S. Friese, whom she married on February 7, 1951; six children, Glenda Sipes (husband Dennis) of Lemasters, Gary Friese (wife Nancy) of Chambersburg, Catherine Mallek (husband Thomas) of Shippensburg, Carol Ann Helfrick (husband Dale) of Mercersburg, Timothy Friese of Greencastle, and Patricia Rodgers (husband Michael) of Greencastle; 22 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; and one sister, June Reeder (husband Nelson) of Greencastle. In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by five brothers, Raymond, Walter, Bill, Irvin and Wilbur Myers; and two sisters Edna Monn and Beulah Diehl.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM on November 5, 2021 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA. Rev. Ron Cook will officiate. Interment will follow the service in Parklawns Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
