Betty Gardner

Betty Catherine Gardner, 82, of Chambersburg, passed away on Sunday, May 6, 2018, at the Chambersburg Hospital. Born June 25, 1935, in Chambersburg, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Marie Quinton Graves. Her beloved husband, Ronald Gardner, preceded her in death on February 15, 1989.

Betty was a 1953 graduate of Downingtown High School and attended Cheyney University of Pennsylvania. A homemaker, she spent most of her life making a home for her family. She enjoyed reading, playing bingo, listening to jazz music and cooking.

She is survived by nine children, Craig Kenneth Graves of Portland, OR, Denise Marie Graves of Chambersburg, Cheryl Judith Graves Carson of Philadelphia, Rhonda Charlene Gardner (Terry Taylor) of Chambersburg, Ronald Charles Gardner, Jr. (Keisha Bouknight) of Philadelphia, Robin Charlotte Sanders (Carl, Sr.) of Chambersburg, Reneé Charlise Gardner of Philadelphia, Rodney Charlton Gardner of Philadelphia and Roslyn Charmaine Gardner of Philadelphia; one brother, Ronald Ford of Souix City, CA; her first cousin and close friend, Jenny Ford Sheppard of Chambersburg. She is also survived by a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, May 14, 2018, in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA 17202. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
