Betty Gipe

Betty J. Gipe, 84, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away Monday morning, December 19, 2016. Born September 21, 1932, in Mercersburg, PA, she was a daughter of the late James C. and Elsie V. Burkholder Robinson.

Early in her life Mrs. Gipe was employed at the former Brandon Restaurant and then worked at Corning Glass in Greencastle for 30 years, retiring in 1999. She attended the Chambersburg First Church of God. Her husband, Robert F. Gipe, whom she married on January 1, 1954, preceded her in death on January 3, 1998.

She is survived by two sons, Dennis R. Gipe and wife Cindy of Chambersburg, and James L. Gipe, Sr. of Harrisburg; one grandson, James L. Gipe, Jr.; and a great-granddaughter. She is also survived by three brothers, Maynard, Leroy, and Wayne Robinson; and five sisters, Martha Gress, Janet Rotz, Darlene Seville, Sharlon Miller, and Theresa Robinson. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Raymond and Donald Robinson; and two sisters, Frances Hager and Hazel Miller.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday, December 22, 2016 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA. Rev. Robert Butts will officiate. Entombment will follow at Parklawns Memorial Gardens.
