Betty McCleary

Betty J. McCleary, age 94, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away peacefully at the Falling Spring Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Chambersburg, PA on Saturday, April 1, 2017. Born February 19, 1923, in Robertsdale, PA she was the daughter of the late Gladys Alloway Monn and Harvey Bridenstine.
Mrs. McCleary was a 1941 graduate of Robertsdale High School. Betty was an employee of the former Stanley Company for over 20 years and retired from Johnnies Restaurant and Hotel Service after 15 years. Mrs. McCleary was a member of First United Methodist Church, Chambersburg and also a life member of VFW Post 1599 Ladies Auxiliary.
Surviving is her daughter, Darlis “Dar” Schaeffer (husband Bill) of Chambersburg, PA; grandsons, Shawn (wife Sarah ) from Greencastle, Kevin (wife Michele) and Ryan (wife Heather) of Chambersburg; great-grandchildren Jessica Schaeffer Millarich (Brandon), Loren, Wil, Elica, Bryce, Riley, Reese, Bryar, Connor, and Emma. Mrs. McCleary is also survived by a sister-in-law Lora Bridenstine and nieces Dona Zimmerman and Vaughn Bridenstine. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Donald and Carl Bridenstine.
Mrs. McCleary’s service will be held on Thursday, April 6, 2017, at 1:00 PM in the Chapel of the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg, PA where Rev. Dianne Salter will officiate. The family will receive friends from 11 – 1 PM prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to First United Methodist Church, 225 S 2nd St, Chambersburg, PA 17201.
