Betty Jane Mickey, 90, of Fayetteville, passed away on Sunday, April 26, 2015 at home. Born on December 26, 1924, in Fayetteville, she was the daughter of the late Stewart E. and Frances R. McNew Mouer. Her beloved husband of 68 years, Harold L. Mickey preceded her in death on April 7, 2011.
Betty Jane retired in 1990, after 23 years of service, working at the former Piney Mountain Home, prior to that she had worked at Letterkenny Army Depot. She was a member of Cold Springs Church. She enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family.
Betty Jane is survived by a son, Gregory L. Mickey and wife Karen of Shippensburg; 2 grandchildren, Kristin Harwood and companion Andy Warren and Keith Mickey and wife Amanda; 4 great-grandchildren, Dylan, Ryan, Abel and Gage Mickey; a brother, Rev. George Mouer; and a sister Peggy Peterson. Aside from her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by 3 sisters, Janet Baker, Violet Shockey, and Berneda Mouer and a brother, Thomas Mowers.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 1, 2015 at 1:00PM in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA 17202; where Pastor Kevin Davis will officiate. The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 30, 2015 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM and one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will follow the service in Parklawns Memorial Gardens.
